Metres to Feet Converter — m, cm, mm, ft, inches

The standard UK ceiling height is 2.4 metres, which is approximately 7 feet 10.5 inches (7'10½"). Older Victorian and Edwardian properties often have ceiling heights of 2.7m to 3m (roughly 9 to 10 feet). There is no single statutory minimum ceiling height in the Building Regulations for habitable rooms — 2.1m is a common rule-of-thumb minimum (and 2.0m is the minimum headroom over a staircase under Approved Document K), while the Nationally Described Space Standard requires 2.3m over at least 75% of the floor area (2.5m for new homes in London).
